Employee Highlight: Clara

Employee highlight ✨

Meet Clara!

She is a farmer, educator, and Farm Box Collective team leader who is passionate about supporting our community and the lives of local farmers.

To get to know Clara a little better, we asked her a few questions! Check out the Q & A below:

What inspired you to get started at The Farm Box Collective?

-I already sold produce to local restaurants, but because of the virus we lost most of our partners and that order outlet got eliminated. This is us trying to create a new outlet for local, organic produce.

What is your favorite part about working with The Farm Box Collective?

-Being a part of the community gives me a feeling of connection that I love. Supporting the health of individuals through the food and the health of our community as a whole feels great. I also love how we work with so many good farmers to offer an outlet for them when they have excess produce. Helping other small farmers is my passion.

What’s your favorite veggie and fruit that’s been in a box so far?

-I loved the mulberries from last week. They are such a unique a difficult product to sell so I was so excited we could offer that.

What does sustainability mean to you?

-It is something that is self perpetuating, something that can maintain itself. In terms of farming, it all circles back to soil, and everything works in a circular motion together. That closed loop where nothing gets wasted is key for sustainable food systems.

What are some things that The Farm Box Collective is doing to be environmentally sustainable?

-We are focused on being all organic and all locally sourced. We know our farmers, they are our friends, we hangout with them! Building relationships with farmers is important to creating a sustainable food system. We also use a software that makes out our driving routes as efficient as possible when picking up direct from farmers and delivering boxes.

Thank you for all the hard work you do for the community, Clara!
